The Retaining Pin, also known as Spring Cotters, R Pins or Hair Pin Cotters, are easily fitted and removed spring steel wire retention device for shaft mounted items. They rely on their inherent spring force to maintain their installed position inserted diametrically through the shaft, using the materials inherent spring force to prevent unwanted movement.

Clamp-type Retaining Pins differ from the other retaining pins in our range as they are intended to sit over a groove rather than in a hole, offering a similar fastening to circlips, where the spring material grips onto the groove of a shaft. They are inexpensive, easy to install and remove retention or location device.
