Retaining Pins, Euro Pattern

The Retaining Pin, also known as Spring Cotters, R Pins or Hair Pin Cotters, are easily fitted and removed spring steel wire retention device for shaft mounted items. They rely on their inherent spring force to maintain their installed position inserted diametrically through the shaft, using the materials inherent spring force to prevent unwanted movement.

Euro Pattern Retaining Pins are a very quick fastener designed primarily to stop parts of the assembly sliding off the end of a shaft, but many other uses have had these pins put to good use. They differ from the Euro Pattern Retaining Pins in that they are flat-backed.
